Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data GARUD Times collects and why, in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

• Reading preferences (state, language, theme) stored in your own browser. They are not sent to us unless you sign up for alerts.
• Email address, language and state — only if you subscribe to breaking-news emails. We use a confirmation email (double opt-in) and every email has an unsubscribe link.
• Browser notification subscription (an anonymous push endpoint, language and state) — only if you turn on alerts. Turn them off from the bell button at any time.
• Video posters. Video stories show a thumbnail from YouTube. Your browser contacts YouTube for that image, and for the player only if you press play.
• Saved stories are stored on your own device (for offline reading) and never sent to us.
• Reporter applications: name, contact details, location, work samples and bio, used only to verify applicants.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data. This site currently sets no advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first.

Your rights

You may ask to access, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent, by writing to [to be filled in before launch]. Grievances: see the grievance page.

Retention

Subscriber data is deleted on request. Reporter applications that are rejected are deleted after 12 months.
